If a union is certified as the exclusive representative, it negotiates on behalf of all employees in the bargaining unit—regardless of whether an individual chooses to join.1
What Union Dues could look like
Once collected, union dues and fees are controlled by the union, which decides how those funds are allocated. Individual members may not always agree with those choices, and SMG and PMG would not control how the union spends that money. NWMU Financials
Northwest Medicine United (NWMU) is an affiliate organization of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) and the AFL- CIO. Because of this affiliate structure, money from the dues you would pay NWMU flow upward to the bigger unions, which can use the money for a variety of uses, including payroll, political activity and marketing.
